The Shield Patent Drawing
Here’s something I never expected to run across. I’ve been aware of Google’s patent search for a while. It’s an interesting thing to check out if you’d like to peek into the weird world of copyright. It all seems very esoteric to me, particularly the fact that many of these patents don’t mention a figure’s name or even a toy line. Most are shown as line drawings, some with cutaways to show operating features or unique parts.
The Shield, hailing from the days of Super Joe, isn’t all that compelling as a simple line drawing. However, I’m now intrigued and wanting to see if any 80s or 90s Joe material might be out there.
It sure didn’t take much to get a patent. As generic as that is, you could make a case that it’s for every action figure in any scale, ever. Interesting stuff!
Interesting find! He looks pretty content.

Nice find! After I saw this I went and found one for Luminos as well. I have them both posted over at the 3D Super Joes website (www.3dsuperjoes.com) Thanks for posting this.
