Once again, so bad it’s GOOD! But it’s not all so stellarly terrible, and that keeps me from picking up the discs. If Netflix added it, I might watch a couple.
Ambush disguised as a cactus seems to be based on his filecard but such a costume would restrict his movement and his exposed face makes him look as though he’s in a kindergaten play.
Skycreeper would appear in later episodes but as a troop type and not an individual
I know its terrible but it beats the tacky quality on the set i have
Everything was coming along nicely until the cactus pulled a Wild Bill.
Sky Creeper fares better here than he did in the DDP universe. And it’s awesome to see the Desert Scorpions in action. Ambush was my favorite figure from 1990 and the show might have worked wonders for him if only he’d jumped out from behind a rock instead in scenes like this. So much wasted potential there.

It was a DIC series. Not the same as Sunbow. Imagine how bad Batman, Spider-Man, or X-Men would’ve been made by them. Well, at least it has some LOL moments.
It must not have fared too well because in the Chicago tv market, it went from WFLD on a prime spot weekday afternoons in its 1st season to WPWR Sunday mornings, fairly early if I recall (though WPWR was great for weekday mornings in the ’90s… Transformers, Beast Wars, Conan, Three Stooges. They also had Star Trek: TNG). It felt like it was being pushed to obscurity as all the classic series were aired weekday afternoons in the ’80s (can’t recall how much the Cubs pre-empted GI Joe or Transformers though).
Watching a Joe cartoon in my old home town was a real treat as there were only two kids shows who were always fighting each other for ratings. Agro’s cartoon conection was sponsored by Hanna Barbara so 9 out of 10 of their shows were Hanna Barbnaras [check out Agro’s cartoon connection bloopers on youtube to discover why that show got canned]
and the other show, Chez TV was sponsored by Mattel but they used to run Transformers G2 occasionally.
The last time i saw a Joe cartoon on a network station was MASS decive twenty years ago. Even though the DIC series was terrible it would have certainly beat all that crap Agro ran
What the?!!! Man, that DIC series was baaaaad.

Wow, that’s amazing! Also, I should have said this last week, have you thought about calling it the “Joement of Zen?”
AWESOME!

GIJoe Moment Of Zen needs to be a regular feature every Saturday…
That’s my plan. The DIC series alone could provide years worth of material.
Little Boa, we’ve already seen a Batman series with a DiC style. It was called ‘Super Friends’. 😀
that’s the truth LOL
football with Rage tanks and the General, anyone?
Eh! Eh! Eh!
