I have no idea what this book is about, but if I’m judging a book by its cover, I think I need to find out. How can it not be amazing if Cobra encounters a Yeti?
Maybe one of our UK readers can shed light on it. I know the Ladybird licensed offerings like Masters of the Universe were storybook affairs, with painted illustrations along with text. Was Action Force done in the same format? And did Cobra come out on top after their encounter with the Yeti? I need to know!
It's been a while since I've featured a cover. If you remember, with these entries I make sure not to check out what the inside of the book is about, and I often speculate wildly based on the title and/or the art. In the case of Operation: Robot Assassin, I…
Holy cow! Now this is action! I really want to see what happens in this book, but unfortunately that's not the point of the Captivating Cover feature. We simply judge the book by its--you know... The book appears to feature the relaunch series version of Frostbite. However, like other covers…
Here's an oddly sedate cover for a coloring book. Lady Jaye, Mainframe and Roadblock staking out what appears to be a Cobra submarine base. Not exactly the bombastic cover of Marvel issue #1, is it? How can you produce an action coloring book and not have one single person on…
Hello, hello.
I remember this one. Ladybird did a set of audio cassettes with some these books. I had a different one – “Action Force Go West”. Some were original stories to go in tandem with the cassettes sold with the story books.
For more details. Others in the series were sold as books only; they contained screenshots from the G.i.joe cartoon episodes by Sunbow and acted as illustrated versions of those episodes – “Spy In The Cobra Camp” was another book I had and was like that.
If you’ve ever seen the Ladybird book of Transformers The Movie it’s very similar.

This would be a good cover to revisit around Halloween. Scary!
