Captivating Cover: Order of Battle #3
Cobra gets the spotlight in the third issue of the Order of Battle mini-series. If you haven’t heard of it, the comic ran four issues, and was set up in much the same style as the 1980s Handbook of the Marvel Universe. Since Joe had readymade filecard info, this was I’m sure a no-brainer for the House of Ideas.
I particularly enjoy the Herb Trimpe wraparound covers. This time he’s inked by Joe Sinnott, and the art makes for an interesting Bronze Age style depiction of the Real American Hero era characters.
This must be one of the few times that Herb Trimpe got to draw Storm Shadow. I can’t recall him drawing Storm Shadow much.
That is wonderful! Odd that Cobra Commander is so far to the back of the line, but that’s kinda his style anyway.
I love how cheerful Scrap-Iron looks.
”Seeing all the Cobra agents running together, hopefully all of notice Wild Weasel, and his Rattler fighter-bomber above them, and hope he does not drop his bomb load on top of their heads.”
I own all four issues of the Order of Battle miniseries. The first three are written by Hama and like Transformers: Universe are just expanded filecards. The Herb Trump art is great, too
*Trimpe, not Trump. Stupid autocorrect…
Serpentor in the very back. Yet, Copperhead is up front.
