Pilot figures can be a little boring. More than any other “driver” figure, they are less useful out of their vehicle. My original Ace didn’t get to do much outside of his Skystriker other than stand around it, waiting for battle, or repairing it. Yeah, I was a kid and didn’t know much about ground crews. I figured since Han and Chewie worked on their ride when it broke down, GI Joes should too. This version of Ace is much more interesting to me than other modern offerings. The more they get away from the 25th Anniversary version’s weird build, the better.
Ace didn’t have a weapon back in the day, and this one’s equipped with a pretty sweet looking and compact machine gun. He’s also sporting a wicked looking helmet, and it’s got a red face shield to match the vehicle’s canopy. Neat.
Sometimes toys are great, when a concept and execution come together to produce a toy that lives on beyond its original purpose. In the 80s and 90s GI Joe lines, there have been more than a handful of them. As vehicles go, the GI Joe Skystriker stands out among its…
By KansasBrawler I’ll admit, I was kind of torn on the Silent Strike set. I really liked the HISS, but I felt a little bored by the Skystriker. I already have the 30th Anniversary version and I really only need one Skystriker in my collection. The Wolf Squad concept has…
The original Chuckles figure remains one of my favorite Joes, even though he's a bit out of place among his teammates, considering he's a guy wearing a Hawaiian shirt. Then again, there are fellas like Bazooka and Outback who don't exactly follow standard military dress when it comes to shirt…
If I saw that figure without this explanation, I would have assumed him to be a Cobra. A clear faceshield would have gone a long way to solve that. But, when you can’t tell the good guys and bad guys apart, it’s probably time for the concept to take a rest.
Wow! Look at those eyes! Ace has been flying too many night missions. He’s all right; my kid calls him “Fake Ant-Man”. Whose helmet is this? Rather he’d come with that F-22 style helmet from the 2011 figure. I might need to see if anyone is casting those.
I know Justin Bell and some others in the community are a goo goo over the Wolf Squad concept, but come on…the red on Joe vehicles suck!! I swapped the Sycthe and Skystriker canopies immediately.
I have to admit this ace is crap. They should’ve tried to do the Version of thr 93 ace helmet could have made it work maybe. But in my opinion the 93 ace is the best ace so I would have liked to just seen it done in the new style although I don’t like many of them. O-RINGs how I miss you.
I remeber getting the blue version of that figure with the gyro copter thingy for my 7th birthday. I have fond memories of him though the green version seems to be the prefered one of many
The helmet reminds me of Cesspool and Incinerator.
Bad paint on the eyes!

SOOOO Well Said Letal!
If you didn’t know who Snake Eyes is, he’d look like a bad guy…and he’s OG13.

Oops, F-35 style helmet.
The helmet originated from the same sources as the lower legs and arms: POC Skydive.

He doesnt seem to know if he’s night force Ace or a Cobra pilot
