GI Joe 50th Anniversary Panel
Being the 50th anniversary of GI Joe, I thought I would contribute a little something to the informal fan celebrations that have been happening this year. To that end, I’ve recruited a valiant Midwestern special mission force. Its purpose: to pay tribute to the world’s first action figure as well as the brand we all love.
Twitziller, Brian of Codename: Iowa, and I will be presenting a 50th Anniversary of GI Joe panel at this year’s Planet Comicon in Kansas City, MO on Sunday, March 16th. We’ll present a whirlwind overview of Joe’s history, from 1964 to the present. We also will cover the brand’s current fandom, including online resources and fan projects, and discuss where we think GI Joe will go from here. Be on the lookout for more coverage of the event right here, and for more information on the convention, check out PlanetComicon.com. Yo Joe!
That looks like fun. Good luck
Awesome, wish I could attend!
This is YT BTW
That’s sounds fun! are you going to film it and put it on youtube so we can all see it?
Yes I am.
Wish I could meet up with you guys there. Enjoy yourselves and let us know how it went.
Any chance you could record audio from the panel and post it here?
I will be doing a video recording.
Sounds very cool! Looking forward to follow-up coverage!
Have fun.
Happy 50th birthday, G.I.JOEs!
have a great time talking only about lightning mobutu for 2 hours! (that’s my challenge to you)
No, that’s an idea for Joe A Day Con, to be held this fall in the Lanard warehouse parking lot.
As a childhood friend of Twitziller’s – and a destroyer of many a “bunker” in his living room with his Joes (then ducking out before I had to help pick up) – I know the power he will bring to your panel. Looking forward to the video!
