Cobra Trooper (2009)
Cobra’s basic troops are still an iconic image to me, almost as much as the original Grunt card art. If Cobra Commander was the face of the named villains, the trooper was the face of the organization as a whole. The look varied from figure to package to cartoon to comic, but the essence remained.
Character designs were my favorite element of the Resolute animation. The Resolute figures transitioned well into the modern construction style, and were the harbinger of good things to come in the modern style’s post-movie lines. Like the excellent Resolute Duke, this figure has improved range of poseability in the arms and hips. The fit of the web gear is nice as well.
I’m glad they stayed true to many of the classic Cobra looks: blue color, bucket helmet, and facemask. It’s all here, but with a cool and different spin.
Thanks to the underperformance of the R.O.C toyline overhere, we never got any resolute figures. A pity
Great helmet!
Swap the white for red on the arm and knee pads and you’re set. A nice update for a classic troop builder.
While body construction improved with the POC Cobra Troopers and despite this guy’s wonky knees, these Troopers still win. To me, they are much more visually exciting as Cobra Troopers.
Hands down my personal favourite of Cobra Trooper (30th is amazing though).
Best Cobra Trooper helmet too.
Excellent figure from the knees up. For all the re-use the legs got it’s a shame they have such tiny feet.
Still, great helmet, great vest, great torso and arm sculpt. In fact I wish the arms got re-used more often!
Nice figure, though I’ve never seen it in the wild.
It’s got a bit of Lee / Liefeld over-busyness in its design (POUCHES! SO MANY POUCHES!), but it’s a decent enough modification of the look, and fits in nicely with the 30th troopers.
